Did you know...

Did you know I also teach children?

Yes, it’s true! I have been working with children for more than 25 years now. I always knew that working with children is one of the things I love doing the most, because it brings me joy, energy and lots of laughter.  I started babysitting as a teen, later, after my professional dance career had ended, I became an elementary school teacher. I worked at several schools in Amsterdam. I’ve worked at day care centers, I founded and taught at summer schools, volunteered at a homework center and I have worked in Cambodia as a volunteer (English) teacher. I’ve also worked in senior secondary education (MBO) for several years as a Dutch teacher and mentor in Amsterdam and Utrecht. I have been working as an independant Dutch language teacher for expats since 2012.

I‘ve enjoyed working at different schools and being in the classroom, teaching and learning from my students. During my time as an elementary school teacher, I discovered that my (hidden) talent was tutoring individuals. My superpower is ‘reading’ children; finding out what their talents are and giving them tools they need in order to thrive, by desiging a custom-made course for them. That's why I founded my first company back in 2004, and started tutoring children at my home in Amsterdam.

When I moved to Haarlem in 2017, I continued to tutor children individually, however, due to the COVID pandemic, my focus was shifted to teaching online. My students were mainly expats, who work for international companies, living in the Netherlands or abroad. I was teaching adults online, because -as you may know- it's quite challenging for both teacher and the child/teen to study together online and remain focussed.

Luckily, I recently started tutoring children face to face again, after my move from Haarlem to Santpoort. And it is so delightful!

How does it work?

Parent(s) and child are invited for a free intake and trial lesson (30 minutes).

Once I know what the specific learning goals are, I design a tailor-made course to suit the child’s personal learning style, level and goal(s).

Usually - after approximately 10 lessons - the results are visible; children tell me they feel more confident, teachers notice the improved results, or parents tell me their child looks happier and enjoys going to school.

I work with Dutch children (Superles) ánd with expat children, who want to gain more confidence, get better results, achieve their goal(s), learn Dutch and improve their Dutch language skills in a manner that's suitable for them.

What are the options for private tutoring?

There are many options, and below are just a few:

  • Dutch as a second language: private Dutch lessons for (expat) children (NT2).

  • Remedial Teaching and pre teaching: personal guidance with learning difficulties (for instance due to dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, fear of failure, being a highly gifted child or being a highly sensitive person).

  • Support with or prepare for tests of primary education (Cito-toets/ NIO- toets).

  • Homework support.

  • English lessons for Dutch children (primary school & high school level).

  • Tailor-made private lessons.

  • Dutch lessons for children and teens from the age of 4 -16
